Both Natural and Manufactured stone cladding have their place both are mainly used as a decretive finish to external or internal horizontal walls and surfaces. However saying this the new Eazyclad thin slate veneer is only about 2mm in thickness and can be used on the vertical  surface so is ideal for covering a ceiling or overhang. 
Stone cladding can be produced using either natural stone or manufactured stone and can go from a thickness of 2mm up to 100mm depending on requirements .

Natural stone cladding is made from Real stone cut or split to a specific consistent thickness and can be set on to a backing or left as it is 

Manufactured Stone Cladding veneers are mainly used for decorative purposes and made of a light weight cement based product and produced to replicate the look of natural stone .
